سفره هفت سین

شب سال نو آخرین نو شدنها که به پایان می رسد وقت چیدن سفره هفت سین است.
سفره را در قدیم به رنگ سپید انتخاب می کردند و سپس نمادهای آن را به نشانه سرور و نشاط و سلامت خانه و آنچه که اهل خانه در سال نو در دل می پرورند بر سر سفره می گذارند.
هفت سین با حرف سین شروع می شود-ریشه گیاهی دارد وخوردنیست
سبزه اصیل ترین بخش هفت سین نماد نوزایی - تولدی دوباره و نشان از همگامی با طبیعت است
سیر نماد درمان است
سمنو نماد برکت و فراوانی
سنجد نماد عشق
سکه نماد دارایی و رفاه
سرکه نماد عمر و شکیب
و سماغ نماد یا رنگ طلوع خورشید است
سین های دیگری نیز در سفره استفاده می شوند که در هفت سین به شمار نمی ایند اما در سفره هفت سین دید ه می شوند
سیب به علامن زیبایی و تندرستی
سنبل که در گذشته در سفره هفت سین مرسوم نبوده اما بعد ها به این مجموعه اضافه شده است
در این سفره از نماد های دیگری نیز که با سین شروع نمیشود استفاده می گردد
تخم مرغهای رنگی- آینه -بید مشک و ماهی قرمز و نیز گل لاله و شمعهای روشن نیز از دیگر نمادهای زیبای سفره نوروزیست
داشتن یک کتاب نیز بر سر این سفره از رسوم گذشته است.این کتاب در بعضی از خانه ها شاهنامه و یا دیوان حافظ و در برخی دیگر به نشانه مسلمان بودن قرآن میباشد.
با چیدن هفت سین در واقع اهل خانه برای ورود به سال نو اماده می شوند.تا در کنار این سفره به انتظار اولین ثانیه سال نو باشند.
این لحظه ها برای من همیشه پر از جادو بوده است و حس زیبایی از آن در دلم می خلد

Haft Seen(Seven "S")

At the last night of the year after doing everything to having a new beginning is time to set the most famous and blessed tradition of Nowrouz which is Haft Seen.
Haft in Persian language means "Seven" and Seen which is only a spelling of the word "seen",is actually the name of the letter "S"in Persian language .
So Haft seen means seven things that start with "S".
This tradition is very old.In the past they would chose a white table cloth that they would set it on the floor and set the rest of the items on it.These items are all a sign of bless ,health,birth,youth,wealth and so on that they all start with "s" sound in Farsi.These items are all from the earth and they are all plant and eatable.
1-Sabzeh ( grass) is the main item and is the symbol of grow , freshness ,giving birth with a new beginning with the nature.
2-Sir ( garlic ) is the symbol of health care
3-Samanoo ( a kind of poree made by wheat sprout which is sweet) is the symbol of bless.
4-Senjed (resemble the mountain ash) is the symbol of love
5-Sekeh ( coins ) is the symbol of wealth.
6-Serkeh (vinegar) is the symbol of age and patience.
7-Somagh (sumac - mountain ash) is the color of the Sun
There are other items that they add to this set which are also begin with "s" sound but they are not part of the saven main one.
Traditionally people add Sib ( apple ) the symbol of beauty and health , and also Sonbol ( hyacinth , ringlet ) which is only added to this set.
There are also some other items which are not start with "S" but they are traditionally part of it.
Colored eggs ,mirror , red fish , tulip , candles and a book which is different in each family.
some families add Quran to their set ,some add Hafiz book , and some add Ferdosi's book ( a famous poet ) to complete the set.Then keep some new Dollar bills or Toman in between the pages for the kids.
After this beautiful traditional set in the house ,people wait for the beginning of the year on the 21st of March which is the first day of Nowrouz ( new year ) in Persian calender.
At the last moments they read Quran or Hafiz and as soon as the first minuet of the year starts people start a whole beginning
families or friends who are apart or not talking ,start a new friendship or relationship again by going to see each other and visit at each other's houses.
some people prefer to go on a trip and some stay in town and rather to visit friends and families.
In Iran vacation starts on the last day of the year for five days and everyone could enjoy these holidays.School is closed for 2 weeks and everyone get back to normal days after the 13th ........

The grass - سبزه عید

Beside planting in the middle of march,people start growing grass as a Green and freshness of life at the new years table.
Some people buy the grass and some grow it.They believe it should grow day by day in the house.It could be different kind of beans or wheat or any other seeds .Growing grass is somehow is a symbol of getting along with the Spring also it means happiness and bless.You could find grass right from the very first beginning of Nowrooz till the last day of these holidays.They keep it with the other decoration of the new year and it will also be the last thing they take out.
Today is raining here and the wind is blowing in to the trees , seems it's saying:hey get up get up
I could feel the freshness and I am glad that my grass is growing happily next to the window.

در کنار کاشتن گیاه در نیمه اسفند مردم شروع به سبز کردن سبزه نیز می کنند به عنوان شادابی و طراوت زندگی تا آن را در کنار سایر تزیینات سفره سال نو "هفت سین"قرار بدهند.بعضی از مردم به جای سبز کردن سبزه را آماده میخرند و بعضی معتقدند سبزه باید در خانه سبز شود. این سنت به نوعی همنوایی با قدمهای بهار همراه با شادی و برکت برای اهالی خانه نیز هست.سبزه را پیش از شروع سال تا پایان تعطیلات در کنار خود داریم و این نماد خرمی اخرین بخش از هفت سین است که با پایان مراسم عید برچیده میشود
امروز بارون مبیباره و باد در درختها می پیچه.انگار داره می گه:هی! بیدار شید.بیدار شید.ا
میتونم شادابی گیاهان رو حس کنم .خوشحالم که سبزه عید من داره برای خورش کنار پنجره سبز میشه.

cleaning the house for Noweooz-خانه تکانی

از وقتی که یادم میاد بوی عید با فرشهای شسته که از لب ایوون آویزون میشد از راه می رسید.زنها یا مردهایی که در بالکنها و یا لبه پنجره ها در حال تمیز کردن شیشه ها بودند.بوی مواد شستشو همه جا حتی در مغازه ها به مشام میرسید.دستکشهای زرد پلاستیکی برای شستن حمامها و دستشویی ها .ملافه های سفید شسته شده روی بند که باد با ملایمت اونها رو تاب میداد و آفتاب درخشانی که به جز بهار مال هیچ فصل دیگری نیست درخشش سپید اونها رو دو چندان می کرد.
از دوهفته پیش از عید همه جا در حال تکان خوردن بود .هم می شد از چهره شهر متوجه اش شد و هم در هر خانه ای به محض وارد شدن می شد انبوه کارهای نیمه تمام مربوط به عید رو دید:
پرده های باز شده-ملافه های شسته شده روی بند رخت-ماشین لباسشویی که از کار نمی افته-سطل مواد شوینده و کف و دستکشها و نردبام برای شستن دیوارها-دستمالهای چرک شده از غبار و دود و خاک سالانه -ظرفهای شسته شده و به دقت چیده شده برای خشک شدن و چیده شدن دوباره در قفسه ها.
تقریبا خونه تکونی و کاشتن گیاه در باغچه ها و خرید همزمان انجام می شد
محله با محله-خانواده با خانواده فرق داشت.یکی داشت و یکی نداشت.اون که داشت کارگر می گرفت و از تجهیزات بیشتری برخوردار بود و اون که نداشت خودش باید همه کارها رو انجام میداد اما یک چیز مشترک بود.همه جا تمیز بود.چنان جنب و جوشی که انگار همه دارند برای یک مهمان عالیمقام اماده میشن.هیچ مناسبتی به این زیبایی و شدت گرامی داشته نمیشد.هنوز هم عید در ایران همینطور برگزار میشه.

Since I remember Nowrooz was coming with washed rugs hanging from the balconies or walls , also people you could see everywhere cleaning windows.The good smell of cleansers were the most obvious event you could find everywhere. Yellow plastic gloves to wash the bathrooms,dishes , floor and the carpets ; shiny white sheets hanging on the ropes waving with the breeze and the sun shine which is not belong to any season other than Spring which was making those clean sheets even brighter than ever.
Tow weeks before the new year (Nowrooz) everything is shaking.You could see it through everything in the cities and towns or in your own house, piles of unfinished works need to get done:
open curtains , washed sheets , washing machine which was never gona stop , buckets fool of soaps and foams to wash the walls and floors , paper towels clean or dusty , dirty or washed hanged everywhere , cleaned washed dishes sets carefully somewhere to get dry and get back to the cabinets .....
Cleaning the house , planting and shopping would be at the same time and in this matter depend on people's income job would get done in different ways but there is always something in common ; everywhere become shiny and clean,every where is movement . Looks like everyone is getting ready for a king to throne on his sit.There is no other occasion more beautiful than this that all people are in that together.
The smell of Nowroos is the smell of a new year , the step of Spring and a new beginning .............

What do Iranians do for their new year?

Iranians have lots of cultural occasions in different part of a year.The most famous one is Nowruz which is the beginning of the year,Persian calender and the beginning of Spring and formally starts on the 20th of march as Persian calender.
They become ready before the new year's arrival and I would like to talk about that for all friends and readers on this page to introduce this interesting culture because I do believe in every culture there is a spirit of those people who created it.Knowing about it is always interesting and I will be happy if any of my readers have different culture than me and they could share it with me.Leave a note and explain the culture or leave your blog address so we could become friends from all around the world while we know about each other.
Now lets start from cleaning the house.
Iranians call it " khauneh tekauni" word by word will be "shaking the house" but it really means :"Cleaning the house deep down"
Iranians usually start from the 6th of the march by planting.It could be tree or different kinds of flowers.
Right at the time people start cleaning the house
The next step will be growing grass
Then the last Wednesday of the year that they call it "charshanbeh souri"
Next will be the last Thursday of the year which is Iranian Memorial day.
The last night before new year will be very special
And finally:The new year or "Nowrooz"(means new day)
At the first day of the year people start visiting people they know and that is how they start the year.
The last day of this biggest occasional beautiful vacation is the 13th day as a common culture of a bad luck day and after that this beautiful holiday will be over.
I will explain every step of that post by post.

دیشب پسرم ترنم جویبار کوچکی را که در رکوردر خودش ضبط کرده بود کنار گوش من گذاشت و با لبخندی مردد به من نگاه کرد و گفت:مامان این رو گوش بدین.

صدای ترنم آب بود که در جویبار جاری بود.چه لذتی داشت گوش کردن به صدای آب.چشمانم را بستم و دیگر باره و دیگر باره به آن صدا گوش سپردم و وقتی‌ از این صدا مست شدم رو به او کردم و گفتم: این رو از کجا ضبط کردی و چرا چند ثانیه بیشتر نیست؟

گفت:چون صدای سیفون توالت و آب جاری از اون بیشتر از این طول نمیکشید..............

I kept the recorder close to my hear and I've heard a beautiful melody of water,seemed running in a little river.I closed my eyes and listened to it over and over and then I asked him:

whee did you record this?and why is it so short?

he said:Because the flashing in the bathroom doesn't take long.........

خاک و آتش چگونه با هم جمع توانند شد؟
اگر من آتشم و تو خاک با خاموش کردنم مرا به نابودی می کشانی !چه فایده از آتشی که خاموش شده باشد؟
من آتشم ! آتشی که شعله می کشد .وقتی شعله می کشم باید مهار شوم .تویی که میتوانی پناهی باشی برای آتش من همچون اجاقی آجری از جنس خاک تا مرا در آغوش حمایت خود جای داده باشی تا من بسوزم و گرما بخشم به انها که در سایه ام آرمیده اند و قلب تو را بیاگنم.
آه که چه زیباست وقتی عناصر دنیا درمیابند که چگونه به کار هم می آیند!!!!ا

The Soil and the Fire . How could they become together?

If I am fire and you are soil you'll blow me off by extinguishing me . It is "You"who could become a shelter for my fire , like a fireplace to hold me in support of your arms , to burn and give away my warmth to ones who are resting around me and make your heart warm.
Oh how beautiful it is when the elements of the world could understand how they work out together!!!!!!!!!!.
